Location
The Space
This is a typical historical flat on the 3rd (top) floor of Alfama. There is a beautiful master bedroom for a couple, a large living room with a double sofa bed and a small terrace, a smaller bedroom for one person, a nice, spacious kitchen with a view and bathroom with a window.
The Neighborhood
This flat is located in the heart of the Alfama. The streets are narrow and full of history. The building dates back to the mid 19th century and used to be a convent. The area is full of delighful little restaurants. People are friendly and genuine. There is even a little market close by where Lourdes (a lovely local lady always smiling and full of life) is there with her fresh fruit and drinks. This is Lisbon at its true genuine best. No marketing, no spin. Just Alfama the way it used to be. Real and adorable.
Getting around
The world-famous yellow 28 tram is just next doors and it will bring you cruising (San Francisco style) up and down the hills of Lisbon from Estrela to Graça neighbourhoods so you get to exprience the old Lisbon like the locals.
Other Things to Note
Like most flats in the historical and most charming part of Lisbon there is no lift. It's a 3rd floor but the stairs are not too steep and it's easy to go up. Once there you are rewarded with a great view of Lisbon and the river.
